How to use it
Take the question you are given. The temptation is to keep pressing the button until something comfortable comes up, which turns a conversation starter into a way of avoiding one. One skip each is a fair rule.
Both of you answer, and the person who did not draw it goes first. One question is usually enough for an evening. The value is in the follow-up, the second question you ask because the first answer surprised you, and that needs room.
If you can, write your answers down before you say them. Whoever speaks second bends towards the first answer, and couples end up discovering that they agree about everything. That mechanic is built into HeartTap’s questions, which keep both answers hidden until each of you has replied.

How does the question generator work?
It picks at random from the 1084 questions published on this site, across 20 sets. Choose a set to narrow it to one mood, such as deep, funny or long distance. Nothing is stored and nothing is sent anywhere: the questions are in the page and the choice happens in your browser.
Is it free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no limit on how many questions you draw.
Can we use it long distance?
Yes. Open it on a call and read the question out, or copy it into a message. If you want to answer separately and reveal your answers together, the HeartTap app does that with its own larger library.
How is this different from the HeartTap app?
The generator hands you a question and stops there. The app sends the question to both of you, can keep each answer hidden until the other is written, and saves what you said. Its library is also larger, at over 2000 questions.
